The Women Development Cell (WDC) of Dnyan Ganga Education Trust’s Degree College of Arts, Commerce & Science was established in the academic year 2014-15. The aim is to establish a gender-sensitive campus with the motto of educating them, empower them. It undertakes the steps to promote the well-being of female students, teaching and non-teaching women staff of the campus. The Women Development Cell always strives for the betterment of women through various activities such as series of sessions on gender sensitization programs, self-defense training, and women’s rights in India etc. Helping female students live a balanced life where they neither lurk into depression nor take the abode of aggression. To create an environment that will help women realize their full potential and give their best. It has been organizing varied academic, technical, medical, cultural and social events for the upliftment of women and spreading the real importance of gender equality.
Activities Conducted Under WDC Committee Academics Year 2022-23 : -
- Intercollegiate seminar on VICTORY OF INDIA- KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS on 26th July 2022 conducted by Retd.Lt.Col.Chandrashekhar Ranade Sir.
- Our Rakshak – Promote Gender Equality through Raksha Bandhan conducted by the Women Development Cell and NSS Unit at our College Campus and Kasarvadvali Police station to empower Warriors on 10th August 2022.
- Intercollegiate seminar to celebrate Breastfeeding Awareness Week on 6th August 2022 Breastfeeding Awareness Programme- There is no substitute for Mother’s Milk was organized by WDC and NSS Unit which was conducted by resource person Dr. Khushbu Taori and Mrs. Krushnali Taori.
- Gender Sensitisation Awareness Programme (Session-I Sex & Gender) on 17th September 2022 conducted by Onil Kulkarni – Founder and Director of Swadhishtan Foundation.
- Gender Sensitisation Awareness Programme (Session II- Power & Patriarchy) on 24th September, 2022 conducted by Onil Kulkarni – Founder and Director of Swadhishtan Foundation.
- Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, to celebrate “Poshan Mah – The first wealth is health” under ‘Mahila and Swasthya’, in order to promote our objective of HEALTHY INDIA three days sessions i.e. 26th, 28th, and 30th September 2022 organized by WDC and Nature’s Club Committee.
- Day 1. ‘Yoga session’ Dr.Shweta Varpe – founder and CEO of Shwet Yoga Wellness Institute was the resource person who had shown various Asanas to eradicate such health issues and to improve menstrual health
- Day 2. ‘Women’s Health Talk’ Nutritionist Mrs. Ankita Palande was the resource person who provided enough knowledge about food intake and how it can help to tackle major health issues like PCOD or PCOS.
- Day 3. Nutri stalls were placed by students on the college campus to promote our objective of HEALTHY INDIA.
- Menstrual Hygiene Awareness and Menstrual Kit Distribution organized in collaboration by WDC and NSS Unit on 7th October 2022 conducted by resource person Shweta Dubey- Co-founder of Swadhishtan Foundation guided students for basic hygiene to be maintained during the menstrual cycle and also provided valuable information regarding provisions available for Biodegradable Sanitary Napkins from Pradhanmantri Jana Aushadhi Kendra. Sanitary napkins were also distributed to students, teaching, and non-teaching staff.

- Gender Sensitisation Awareness Programme (Session III Power Walk) on 8th December 2022, conducted by Onil Kulkarni – Founder and Director of Swadhishtan Foundation.
- Women Development Cell in collaboration with NSS Unit conducted a session on the occasion of Human Rights Day- “ A right delayed is a right denied” on 10th December 2022, resource person, Asst. Prof. Mangesh Raut sir enlightened students with the facts of Human Rights.
- Women Development Cell organized a program ‘Gatha Savitribai Phule Chi’ on the occasion of the 192nd birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule on 3rd January 2023. The entire occasion was celebrated by performing various activities for students like Skits, poems, songs, informative videos, and a PPT presentation on the Women’s era from 1800 to till date.

- Women Development Cell (WDC) in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS UNIT) organised the POCSO Act- Don’t Hide, Speak Out, on 10th February 2022 conducted by resource person Onil Kulkarni – Founder and Director of Swadhishtan Foundation.
- International Women’s Day Celebration organized by Dnyan Ganga Education Trust was hosted by the Women Development cell (WDC) on 11th March 2023 for all teaching and non-teaching staff in the auditorium.
- Women Development Cell The Women Development Cell (WDC) in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS Unit) organized a two day Self Defense Workshop- “Stay Safe, Stay Vigilant” on 20th March 2023 & 21st March 2023 conducted by a resource person Salim Gani Khan- President of Bhiwandi Karate Association.
- Women Development Cell (WDC) organized an awareness program on Sexual Harassment at the workplace- Challenges and Preventions on 23rd March 2023 conducted by resource person Onil Kulkarni – Founder Of Swadhishtan Foundation for students, teaching and non-teaching staff.
- BAMMC Department in collaboration with the Women Development Cell (WDC) organized a session on “Sustainable Menstruation, a period of sharing.” on 28th March 2023 conducted by resource person Miss Purva Desai-Menstrual Care Educator.
